The Charm and Creativity of Shooting at the Beverly Hills Courthouse for Your Elopement
If you're considering an intimate wedding or elopement in the heart of Los Angeles, the Beverly Hills Courthouse is an absolute gem. As a wedding photographer, I’ve had the privilege of capturing countless beautiful moments at this iconic location, and it never fails to impress with its elegance, versatility, and the endless creative opportunities it offers within the courthouse itself and other nearby locations.
One of the most exciting things about shooting at the Beverly Hills Courthouse is its blend of classic architecture with stunning natural elements. The building itself is an amazing example of Spanish Revival architecture, complete with grand columns, intricate tile work, and a little bit of old world charm. Whether you’re looking for timeless elegance or a more whimsical vibe, this location has everything you need to make your elopement photos unforgettable.

Why the Beverly Hills Courthouse is a Photographer's Dream
Architectural Details
The Courthouse’s Spanish-style arches, courtyards, and balconies provide a variety of backgrounds for capturing dramatic, cinematic shots. The building’s ornate tile work and symmetrical columns create stunning frames for your wedding portraits, allowing for both wide shots and intimate close-ups.Diverse Backdrops in One Location
What I love most about shooting here is how many different backdrops can be created within the same location. The Beverly Hills Courthouse is a treasure trove of picturesque spots, from the lush greenery of its surrounding gardens to the grand staircase leading to the front entrance. These areas offer a mix of elegance and natural beauty, perfect for capturing both the quiet, romantic moments and the lively, joyful ones.Natural Light at Its Best
The Courthouse’s open, spacious design allows for beautiful natural light to pour in throughout the day, illuminating the couple in soft, flattering tones. The light and shadows change throughout the day, casting light and shadows that constantly reshape the space.Up to Two Different Locations for Extra Variety
One of the great benefits of booking me for your Beverly Hills Courthouse for your elopement is the opportunity to explore additional locations nearby. I offer a fantastic weekday elopement package that includes 3 hours of coverage for just $1800, where I can photograph at the Courthouse as well as up to one other nearby location. Whether it's a stroll through Beverly Gardens Park, the iconic palm tree-lined streets, or even the Graystone Mansion (one of my absolute favorites) there are endless possibilities for creating unique memories.

We’ll work together to plan a perfect itinerary, shooting in locations that best reflect you. I have so many great suggestions for nearby locations. Continue reading for three suggested itineraries for your perfect elopement!
Itinerary 1
Greystone Mansion + Beverly Hills Courthouse
This itinerary works especially well because the two locations are only about a 7 minute drive from each other with parking readily available at both!
Greystone Mansion in Los Angeles exudes timeless elegance, with its grand architecture and lush gardens creating a stunning backdrop for photos. The estate's intricate stonework, towering columns, and expansive windows offer a glimpse into a bygone era of opulence and sophistication. It has the feel of a European manor. Surrounded by meticulously manicured lawns and shaded walkways, the mansion is a serene sanctuary that blends beauty and history seamlessly.
I would recommend having photos done either earlier in the morning or later in the afternoon starting around 1 hour before sunset. However, great photos can be had at any time of day here. You’ll want to secure a photography permit for this one, they do actually check every, single, time! You can secure that permit HERE
Following are a few pictures from the Greystone session I had with a couple that eloped at Beverly Hills Courthouse
Itinerary 2
Beverly Hills Courthouse + Matador Beach
No photo permit needed!
Matador Beach in Malibu captivates with its dramatic cliffs, crashing waves, and soft golden sands, creating a very dramatic backdrop for photography. The rock formations rising from the surf and the vibrant sunsets add an ethereal charm, making it a hidden gem for nature lovers and photographers alike.
This one is another great option if you’re willing to make the 30-45 minute drive to Matador Beach after your Courthouse Ceremony. We would either aim to shoot at Matador in the early morning before your Beverly Hills Courthouse ceremony or after it and aiming to be at the beach at around sunset for best results. My 3 hour elopement package works well for this option!
Following are some pictures from a client I had formally sign the marriage licence at Beverly Hills Courthouse then had their ceremony at Matador.
Itinerary 3
Beverly Hills Courthouse + Downtown Los Angeles
This one also requires no photo permits but does require about a 25-35 minute drive between the two locations, so plan accordingly.
Downtown Los Angeles offers a diverse array of stunning backdrops for couples, from the iconic architecture of some of the mid century buildings, to the vibrant street art of the Arts District. The city’s rooftop bars provide sweeping skyline views, perfect for capturing intimate moments against the glow of city lights. With its blend of modern spaces, historic landmarks, and urban greenery, Downtown LA presents endless photography opportunities to celebrate love in a dynamic, cinematic setting.

A few other noteworthy suggestions
Other great second location options include
Griffith Park, about a 30 minute drive (permit required, but can sometimes get away without having one). Photography here is truly best in the very very early morning, otherwise it is VERY over run with people at sunset. Talk to me about how we can split up the 3 hours coverage with me to shoot here in the early morning, then meet up again for your ceremony at Beverly Hills Courthouse.
Beverly Hills Gardens Park, can walk here from Beverly Hills Courthouse. Permit sometimes needed, please check for your date.
Coldwater Canyon park, about a 15 minute drive, no permit needed
